1930s Royal Northern Infirmary Inverness Enamel Nursing Badge 1931-34. An attractive and apparently scarce early nursing badge from the Royal Northern Infirmary, Inverness, with blue and red enamel decoration, crowned top and central cross design. Nursing badges were introduced at the Royal Northern Infirmary in 1933, making this an early example. The reverse is engraved "C. Rolland" and dated 1931-34, presumably recording the original nurse's period of training, and retains its original pin fitting. The badge has some age-related wear and chipping to the enamel around the outer edge, and a small fitting, probably for a safety chain, appears to have been removed or lost from the reverse of the crown. An interesting named and dated piece of Scottish nursing and hospital history.
