Walker of Colombo Street South, Christchurch, New Zealand, showing Māori chief Paora Puha wearing traditional clothing and with facial moko. The same portrait is held in the collection of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, where it is identified as Paora Puha and dated circa 1869, forming part of an album entitled “New Zealand Chiefs”. This example is mounted on the original C. F. Walker photographer's card with his Christchurch studio details to the reverse. A good original example of early New Zealand Māori portraiture with age-related wear and marks as shown.
