Hand Signed 1930s Trim Tennis Postcard Frank X Shields - As shown in the photos has some lightish wear around the edges and appears slightly curled but that often happens with old Real Photo postcards when they are in warm air and will be fine once in an album/sleeve. A scarce hand-signed Trim real photo postcard featuring American tennis star Frank X. Shields. One of the leading players of the 1920s and 1930s, Shields competed at both Wimbledon and the French Championships and represented the United States in Davis Cup competition. He later went on to captain the United States Davis Cup team in 1951, further cementing his place in the history of American tennis.
Trim photographic postcards are highly regarded by collectors and remain among the most sought-after postcard series depicting sporting personalities of the inter-war period. The addition of Shields' signature makes this an especially desirable example for collectors of tennis memorabilia, sporting autographs and vintage postcards. An attractive and historically interesting piece from the golden age of tennis, ideal for collectors of Wimbledon, Davis Cup and early twentieth-century sporting memorabilia.
